Common questions

Do you have a clinic in Northern Ireland?

Not a permanent one — we work the other way round. Our clinicians travel to you, so the appointment happens in your own living room rather than you travelling to a waiting room. The test and the equipment are exactly the same as in our Derby and Cannock clinics.

Is the hearing test really free in Northern Ireland?

Yes. The full diagnostic test is free, there is no call-out charge and no obligation to buy anything. Plenty of patients are told they do not need a hearing aid yet, which is the right answer when it is the right answer.

How long does a home visit take?

About an hour and a quarter. That covers a chat about what you have noticed, a look inside both ears with a video otoscope, the full hearing test, and your results explained there and then.

Which areas of Northern Ireland do you cover?

All six counties — Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry and Tyrone. We plan visits by area, so when you call we will tell you which day we are next near you.

Can you fit hearing aids at home too?

Yes. Everything we do in clinic we can do at home, including taking impressions for custom aids, fitting, programming and aftercare. Our full Signia and Starkey range is available, from £695 a pair.

Can you remove ear wax at a home visit?

We can look and tell you what is there, and in many cases treat it. Some ears are better done in clinic, and if that is the case we will say so rather than attempt it.
